WINGS OF IMPOSSIBLE HOPE

Every day———-

I keep hoping to get a call from you at the airport:
“I’m here honey!”
But who am I kidding?
Another day goes by

The rent check’s due.
Another day goes by

Another paycheck
The rent check’s due
Another day goes by.

The gas and electric is due.
Another day goes by.

The phone is due.
Another day goes by.

When will I see you?
Will it be ever?
The rent check’s due.
Gotta by groceries.
Another day goes by.

We are apart,

No touch, no taste, no smell.
Two souls without bodies.
Two bodies not being able to take it anymore.
The rent check’s due.
Another day goes by.
I’m back where I started from.
All alone.

Without you.
Another day goes by.
No day fails to go by.
No groceries fail to need to be bought.
Another rent check’s due.
Another utility, phone and computer bill’s due.
Our love is long over-due.
Another day goes by.
The rent check’s due.

I wonder how many times I’ll run around this wheel that keeps spinning.
Never getting to you.
The rent check’s due.
Another day goes by.
Another day without you.

No smell, no touch, no taste

No hugs, no caresses,

No looking deep into each other’s eyes

The rent check’s due.

Another day goes by.

All alone.

The car insurance is due.

Oooooh……………it’s steep.

The fender’s a little bent and much scratched.

Forget about that, I want to see you.

Another day goes by.

Oh if only I could smell your sweet smell,

If only I could feel your touch,

To fondle you gently,

Ahhhhhhhhh…………..

To kiss you passionately and deeply,

The sweet taste I can’t have.

Another day goes by.

Another rent check’s due.

The cupboard’s getting bare,

And groceries have to be bought again.

I miss you so much.

Will I ever see you?

Another paycheck.

The rent check’s due.

Ever?

Another day goes by.

Will tomorrow be the day?

If it can’t be today (on my terms)?

That you’ll show up at the airport?

And amaze me? (“I’m here honey! Come pick me up!”)

Another day goes by

As I try to harness wings

Of impossible hope.
