Now after Day 3 of the Convention, I cannot sleep. It may be partially because of the caffeine to get me through the work day after 2 days of Conventional late nights, but my body now feels too big, much larger with a much greater vision of how great humanity is and how so much larger we could be if we only believe in ourselves. I hear the resounding refrains of the great poet Frederich Schiller’s lines from his An De Freude, Ode To Joy, to peace, to humanity, to humanism immortalized by a simple melody by a man whose greatness as a simple human being cannot be fathomed or measured, Ludwig Van Beethoven, the Ode of Triumph that is repeated day after day in many variations in many different languages and cultures the world over, forming an even better and more perfect union right here in this great land of America known since ancient times better by its native inhabitants than anyone else but always welcoming the immigrants to its shores desiring to strive together triumphantly for not simply a decent but a better life via con mismo sol.
I feel tonight I have been called to be a bigger and better person. Tonight, through the power of the speech of an amazing man, President Obama, I finally understand why our hands are placed so we cannot pat ourselves on the back and why I am more blessed that I have received few pats on my back in my life. It is so I can always to improve, to do better, to be bigger, to not need these small and disabling creature comforts. For I am far more than a mere creature. I am a Creator, a CoCreator, I am a Value Creator. A Value Creator is by far the best definition of what a Change Agent truly is. A Value Creator is the greatest Change Agent. Sometimes we do it eloquently like Barack Obama. But more often than not, most of us who rise to the occasion, do it silently through many wordless actions, like Hillary Clinton. I’m with her because I know she will be with me and all of us. And while she may not pat me on the back, I know she will have my back. Ohio, are you ready for my calls? Though stuck in Jersey, the telephone and the internet are still very powerful tools. I am ready not merely to fight for the justice we have not yet realized but to fight with my life to protect all the justice we have won through the struggles of our parents and our forbears. I remember marching on many a picket line as well as peace demonstration with my own two parents, Max Ginsburg and Sonia Mankovitz to realize change, create value and realize a far better world. I am ready to receive the mantle and baton and strive for the sake of the children and inheritors of our American and global dream and to never allow that freedom march to be halted. Ever.
Nichiren’s life and Gosho have taught me all I need to know about our current battle to save the planet and humanity. Hillary and her supporters, including those of Bernie, are like roaring lions for justice and fairness, while the barking of such low minded jackals such as Rush Limbaugh, Donald Trump, the whole litany of Murdoch’s FOXes and the great ship of fools set on a dangerous course by their flattering and fear provoking lies, are all those whose guts will rot when barking at a lion, a lionness and her cubs. They cannot and will not win. They and their counterclockwise cronies are all not on history’s side and they will be soon and long forgotten while Barack Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s places in history are already immortal for reasons far beyond their race or gender that the simple minded latch onto
