The more I chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, the more I understand the profound wisdom of the Bible that most Jesus worshippers and Torah observers obliviously completely miss. There is no way to know God without chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. It is like the difference between an acquaintance and a friend.
What I learned today profoundly while I was chanting is the inevitability of time due to the strict law (dharma, ho, torah, logos or The Word) of cause and effect (renge), the fact that nothing can happen differently from any action or event than what the Law destines it to be. If you jump from a huge height, you will fall, if unprotected, to a surface too hard not to end your life. If you kill someone, you will suffer a very violent and painful event in your eternal future without any hope for an outcome that alters this.
The Bible states that the world, “in the beginning” was “unformed and void and darkness was on the face of the deep”. This darkness is the 99% unfathomable (myo) nature of reality which what scientists have discovered as the roughly 98% of reality being dark matter and dark energy that is yet, at the same time, behaving and following a strict pattern that is the “light” or dharma that God called into being with His first commandment (of the 613 that Jews counted in the Torah). It was always there but God (the enlightened Buddha self of all reality that human beings can achieve by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo) called it forth, this enabling chaos to manifests its essential nature of enlightenment, illustrating the oneness of the fundamental darkness and the enlightened nature of all things, illustrating the principle that all things can be transformed.
But, transformative power and ability notwithstanding, it is still crucial and necessary that we understand and completely respect the unalterable Law (dharma or ho) that even makes any wilful transformation of reality (sad or myo, sad being the Sanskrit word of the title of the Lotus Sutra, meaning mystic). This is life’s or reality’s UNconditional nature and therefore why any conditional tense or clause we think or speak is absolute blasphemy, sin, slander, self-destruction and self-defeat. There is absolutely no “if”, “would”, “would have” in reality. We human beings, on average, entertain and hold our lives captive to such falsehoods as much as 68% of the time (as little as 34% among the more enlightened among us). There is never any telling what would have happened because every cause and facet of life, of reality, is inextricably part of and bound up in every other cause and inevitable effect that could not have happened any other way. I DID, I AM, I WILL…. That is it! There is absolutely no alternative. What IS alterable is–and this is only area where we actually alter anything and where we do have power–are the decisions we make in the present moment to do one thing instead of the myriad alternatives. This applies in the realms of that we think or how we feel, what we say and what we do. You can swing all you want at the ball that was pitched a moment ago, the ball that will be pitched a moment from now or the one you imagine being pitched in your conditional would/if imagination, but I can guarantee you’ll have enough strikeouts to get you off the team in no time. Unless you focus on what’s really coming at you plus what you will do in the present moment, you will be a big all-time loser. Life is that strict.
Then why do we live in the conditional would/if clause or tense up to that walloping 68% of the time despite living in a reality that is always UNconditional 100% of the time. Because we are that afraid of reality. We don’t choose to conquer the inevitable fear that is in our life so we instead deflect it with millions of if-onlys……….. until we drain our lives and our chi energy totally dry of the fluid of real living. So the answer is clear. The next time and every time you find yourself entertaining an alternate, non-existent (non) reality, grab fear by the balls and whatever your REAL choices are, choose one and DO IT!!!
